Name Origin: The “Carthage” name or “ قرطاج ” in Arabic, came from a deformation of “Kart Hadasht” (“the new town”), the name used by the Phoenicians in the 9th century B.C.
Location: In the outskirts of Tunis (15 km north of the capital), on the Gulf of Tunis.
Access: Excellent paved roads from Tunis to Carthage.
International Tunis-Carthage airport used by the major international airline companies.
